Barcelona to offer Messi new deal with pay cut over 50 per cent
Barcelona are set to offer Leo Messi a new deal with a salary of about €30m per year, according to El Chiringuito.
The Argentine's current annual wage is said to be about €71m which means that the 33-year-old would have to take a 50+ per cent pay cut if this rumour was actually true.
Barca are still struggling financially amid the coronavirus pandemic and it's possible that Joan Laporta will offload a few players to lighten the wage bill.
Messi's current deal with Barca expires in July, which means that he's already free to discuss his future with other clubs.
