Chelsea eying fourth

With their place booked in the FA Cup final and Champions League semis, things are going well for Thomas Tuchel’s Chelsea right now. The only dent in an almost perfect start was the shock 5-2 loss to West Brom in their last home game.

The Blues will be out to put that right on Tuesday, especially given that they can move into fourth with all three points against the Seagulls. With Chelsea looking strong, our predictions favour the hosts to get the job done.

A Bridge too far for Brighton

There have been highs and lows for Brighton in the Premier League, but when it comes to Chelsea they’ve been mostly lows. The Seagulls have never even taken the lead in a Premier League meeting between the pair, never mind winning one.

Chelsea are unbeaten in their last 14 against the Seagulls, winning 12 and drawing two in a run that dates back to the 1930s. Brighton have lost all six of their away games against Chelsea in all competitions, with the Seagulls failing to score in all six of their visits to Stamford Bridge against the Blues, conceding 14 in the process.

Blues offer value

It seems that Chelsea’s slip against West Brom and their busy fixture list have left them well priced going into this clash. However, we don’t see Brighton taking advantage of that. They’ve met the current top five on seven occasions this season, losing six and drawing once.

Meanwhile, Chelsea have won eight of their 10 clashes with the bottom six this season. The hosts have 14 clean sheets in 19 matches under Tuchel and they’ve found a new dimension going forward with Kai Havertz operating as their number nine. All of that works in the hosts’ favour, so we think a home win is the best option in this clash, with a 2-0 win our correct score prediction.
