Chelsea start as underdogs

Chelsea take their last shot at domestic silverware when they meet a Man City team chasing a historic quadruple on Saturday, though the Blues’ FA Cup winning aspirations could be dashed by Pep Guardiola’s trophy hungry charges.

Having lost last year’s FA Cup final to London rivals Arsenal, Chelsea will be determined to go one better in 2021, however, they have shown some signs of vulnerability for the first time under Thomas Tuchel of late.

Shortly after tasting defeat for the first time in the Premier League against WBA, Chelsea looked nervy in a 1-0 reverse against Porto in midweek, and though they eventually booked their place in the Champions League semi-finals, their performance in Sevilla was hardly a confidence-builder.

Manchester City march on

Manchester City showed a gritter side to their character on Wednesday evening when they recovered from a nearly goal to beat Borussia Dortmund 2-1 in Germany, sealing their place in the last four of the Champions League in the process.

The Citizens have now won an incredible 28 of their last 30 games as they continue their relentless assault for trophies on four fronts, however, their 2-1 defeat to Leeds last weekend showed that wholesale rotation from game to game can present problems.

Citizens to claim final spot

The nerves Chelsea displayed against Porto on Tuesday didn’t bode well for their crunch tie with Manchester City at Wembley, and the Citizens – who are available at close to evens – are too good a price to pass up in Saturday’s semi-final.

Pep Guardiola’s side thoroughly outclassed Chelsea when the teams last faced off at Stamford Bridge in January (1-3), and though the Blues have switched managers since, the combatants on the pitch remain the same.

City’s results since December have been remarkably consistent and with the Blues’ confidence looking a little wobbly for the first time under Thomas Tuchel, backing the Citizens to advance to the final at Chelsea’s expense is advised.

Our 2-1 correct score prediction tips City’s winning margin to be slim however. Guardiola’s charges have scored exactly twice in five of their last six assignments, though another brace should push them closer to another piece of silverware this weekend.
