Crystal Palace vs Chelsea Preview and Prediction 2021

Crystal Palace vs Chelsea predictions for Saturday’s Premier League clash at Selhurst Park. Chelsea can get their top-four charge back on track with a win over the Eagles. Read on for all our free predictions and betting tips.

Chelsea have won each of their last six meetings with Crystal Palace.

Chelsea have kept a clean sheet in three of their last four meetings with the Eagles.

Chelsea have kept 13 clean sheets in their last 16 fixtures.

Crystal Palace have scored just one goal in their last four home league assignments.

Chelsea bounce back

Ten-man Chelsea were left shellshocked by a West Brom outfit that made full use of their numerical superiority to win 5-2 at Stamford Bridge last weekend, though the Blues bounced back in determined style to beat Porto in midweek.

Thomas Tuchel’s unbeaten start as Chelsea’s new manager came to a halt in spectacular fashion against the Baggies, and the convincing loss saw them replaced in the top four by London rivals West Ham.

Chelsea’ rebuilt their defences to shut-out Porto in the Champions League on Wednesday evening however to claim their 13th clean sheet in 16 assignments since Tuchel’s appointment.

Palace’s home form a worry

Crystal Palace took full advantage of their host’s profligacy to steal a scarcely deserved point at Everton last weekend, though their own lack of cutting edge at Selhurst Park could scupper their chances of upsetting the odds against Chelsea.

The talon-less Eagles’ effort from the penalty spot against WBA in their last outing there was the only goal they mustered in four league matches at home, and Palace should struggle to improve their fortunes in the final third against a robust Chelsea team this weekend.

Another clean sheet for Chelsea?

Chelsea’s record against Crystal Palace is superb, and the Blues are plotting their seventh straight victory against the Eagles on Saturday evening.

Three of their last four wins against Palace were accompanied by clean sheets, and with the Blues’ excellent defensive displays under Thomas Tuchel (WBA aberration aside) a major factor, backing Chelsea to win to nil again is an attractive option at the prices on offer.

Chelsea haven’t quite matched their high standards at the back further up the pitch since Tuchel’s arrival however, and they have yet to score more than twice in a game under their German taskmaster.

Indeed, the Blues have notched exactly two goals in five of their last six games, and our 2-0 correct score prediction tips Chelsea to bag another brace against Palace.

Crystal Palace injuries and team news

Roy Hodgson has a number of injury concerns ahead of the wekend, with Nathaniel Clyne, Nathan Ferguson, James McArthur, James Tomkins and James McCarthy all doubtful.

Michy Batshuayi meanwhile, who scored at Everton last weekend, is ineligible to face parent club Chelsea.

Chelsea injuries and team news

Thiago Silva is suspended following his dismissal against WBA, though Thomas Tuchel has few injury issues to contend with.

Kurt Zouma, Marcos Alonso, Olivier Giroud, Hakim Ziyech and Callum Hudson-Odoi will all hope to see minutes having started on the bench in midweek.
