Leipzig demand full release clause to be paid on Liverpool target Konate

The centre-back is viewed by Liverpool as one of the top targets and The plan is to sign him on a five-year contract.

No agreement between the clubs has been reached, however.

Liverpool are still working on a deal to sign RB Leipzig defender Ibrahima Konate, according to transfer insider Fabrizio Romano.

The 21-year-old is considered as one of Liverpool's top targets and will be offered a 5-year contract, as per the source.

At the same time, no agreement has been reached between the clubs or between the Reds and the player.

From their side, Leipzig would only sell if Liverpool pay a €40m buyout clause immediately and in full.

Back in March, The Athletic claimed that the deal was in the process of being finalized, but such talk seems to be premature.

As for Konate himself, the centre-back has insisted that he has not been approached by Liverpool - although, what else is he going to say when Leipzig are yet to sanction the deal?
