Naby Keita wants to stay and fight at Liverpool but clock is ticking: James Pearce

Reliable journalist James Pearce has reported that Naby Keita's days at the club could be numbered if something doesn't change soon.

The midfielder will enter the final 2 year of his contract this coming season and the Reds could look to sell.

According to The Athletic‘s James Pearce, Keita “wants to stay beyond this summer and continue to fight for a place in the team,” but the “clock is ticking.”

Naby Keita seems to have fallen out of favour recently after a poor call to start him in the first leg against Real Madrid backfired massively on Jurgen Klopp and cost Liverpool the tie.

Keita has made just 76 appearances in 3 seasons for Liverpool, with injuries robbing the midfielder of any momentum.

The £52.75m that Liverpool paid for him now seems exorbitant and with Keita entering the last 2 years of his deal next season, the club could decide to cut their losses in the coming summer.

Keita is certainly not the only player in a similar position, with Oxlade-Chamberlain, Shaqiri and even Nat Phillips facing questions over their futures.
