Real Madrid players to reject bonus if they win either Champions League or La Liga

The club are facing the financial ramifications of the Covid-19 pandemic and Real Madrid could save around €30m as a result of the players' generous gesture.

According to Spanish source ABC Deportes, Real Madrid players will waive the bonus, which they are due to pocket if they win La Liga or the Champions League.

The players have also decided that, if they win both titles, they will renounce one of the bonuses, which will save the club around €30m for the club.

Los Blancos already did it last season waiving €30m after winning the league. Also, some players accepted a 10 per cent pay cut, which additionally saved the club €10m.

Real Madrid are expected to report a loss of €91.1million for this season, due to the business closures caused by the pandemic.

The club have already earned €56.25m from their exploits in Europe this season so far and could pocket raise €19m more if they win the competition.

Los Blancos will also pocket their share of the revenue from the television market pool, which fluctuates based on several factors. The market pool pot is estimated at €292m.
