Ander Herrera: The referee told Paredes 'screw you' and we can't accept that

Ander Herrera spoke after PSG's 2-0 (4-1 aggregate) defeat to Manchester City in the Champions League semi final second leg, and the Spanish midfielder was particularly unhappy with referee Bjorn Kuipers for a comment he made to Leandro Paredes during the game.

The former Athletic Club man feels that his side were the better team for the majority of the game.

"We were better for 70 minutes, we had the ball, we can go out with our heads high," he said after the match.

"We are sad, but we know that it is not easy to be a finalist one year and then to be among the four best the next," he said.

He then went on to explain the incident between Kuipers and Paredes.

"At one point he said 'screw you' and we can't accept that," he said.

Marco Verratti also complained about receiving insults from the referee.

"We are disappointed, but I think that until [Angel] Di María's sending off, we were in the game," he said.

"Against opponents like this it is difficult to control all the details," the Italian added.
