Man Utd Face Competition For 19-Year-Old Ghanaian Teenager

Manchester United sent scout Tommy Nielsen to watch the 2-2 draw against Copenhagen and are opening negotiations for £12million Ghanaian teenager Kamaldeen Sulemana, who has emerged from the African Right to Dream Academy.

However they face competition from Ajax whose director of football Marc Overmars also flew to Denmark for the game as 19-year-old Sulemana outpaced the defence before finishing with his left foot.

Ajax had a previous bid for Sulemana turned down in January.

The player’s growing reputation has also prompted Liverpool’s interest with their Scandinavian scout Mads Jorgensen present in the stadium though they are considered outsiders in the chase at the moment.

Sulemana, who is comfortable on either flank, is tipped to become the most successful footballer from Ghana since Michael Essien.

He has scored six goals in his last six games in the Danish league and was named the league’s player of the month for April. He also made his international debut earlier this season.

Though United paid £37m for Ivory Coast teenager Amad Diallo in January, they consider Sulemana a safe investment with his value likely to increase once he plays in a high-profile World Cup qualifier against South Africa in June.
