Manchester United's Bruno Fernandes 'on the cusp of a new £200,000-a-week deal'

Bruno Fernandes is close to agreeing a new deal at Manchester United worth a whopping £200,000 a week.

The 26-year-old's agent Miguel Pinto arrived in Manchester earlier this week to negotiate new terms for the Portuguese that would double his current wages, according to The Mirror.

Fernandes has been a revelation since joining the Red Devils in January last year. An ever-present in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's first team, the midfielder has scored 28 goals in competitions this season, and provided 17 assists.

Though he still has four years left on his current contract, United are eager to reward his exceptional form.

The Mirror reports that Old Trafford senior management are keen to wrap up the new deal with Pinto and Fernandes before the start of Euro 2020 on 11 June.

However, the club are reportedly not prepared to entertain any proposal to include a buy-out clause in Fernandes' new contract.

Fernandes said he is happy with the progress United are making under Solskjaer.

The Red Devils have secured second place in the Premier League and are in the Europa League final against Villarreal on 26 May.

'My priority today is to win trophies,' he said. 'I think the club has improved a lot since I arrived here.

'It is in a growth phase and the players are getting more and more the mentality that you should have in a club like Manchester United, which wants to win titles and more titles.

'That's what we're here for. I feel like I'm part of that and I'm here to help the club evolve.'
