Neither side have much to cheer

We’re creeping towards the Premier League’s big finish, but neither of these two sides have much to shout about going into their final games of the season. Both are just relieved to have avoided the drop, while even the top half looks beyond them.

However, this is almost a last hurrah for Palace. The Eagles have a slew of out-of-contract players who need new deals and there’s been no confirmation about the future of manager Roy Hodgson. After a weekend victory, could they bag another three points and finish the season in form?

Southampton’s worrying slide

The hosts have won just two of their last 17 league games ahead of this clash, while their weekend loss to Liverpool was their fourth defeat in five matches. It’s not been a great 2021 for the Saints, with their season basically ending in their FA Cup semi-final defeat to Leicester.

The Saints have struggled for results at St Mary’s, having won only six of their 16 home games this term. With just one victory in their last seven matches at this ground, we expect Crystal Palace to come away with a result on Tuesday.

Palace picking off strugglers

Crystal Palace don’t have a stellar away record, but their games at the struggling sides below them have proved to be enjoyable for the Eagles. They won 2-0 at Sheffield United on Saturday, with that victory their fifth in six visits to the sides below them. That record should continue at 16th placed Southampton.

The Saints haven’t won a home game against Palace in over four years and we’re backing the visitors to continue that run. Our first prediction is Palace double chance given the hosts’ recent struggles. On top of that we’re also going for a 1-0 Palace victory as our correct score prediction.
