Divock Origi launches scholarship at The University of Liverpool

Reds forward Divock Origi is launching a new scholarship in partnership with the University of Liverpool.

The Divock Origi Scholarship will be offered on a competitive basis to two students from the city of Liverpool.

Successful candidates will begin an undergraduate course at the university in September 2021.

The scholarship will cover tuition fees (£9,250 per year) and provided an annual payment of £3,000 towards living costs.

Speaking about the programme, Origi said: 'From a purpose perspective and understanding the position of influence and impact I'm blessed to have, I know the importance of being given an opportunity, while also truly believing in the ability of future generations to achieve greatness.'

While Professor Gavin Brown, pro-vice-chancellor for education at the University of Liverpool, said: 'We at the University of Liverpool strongly believe that everyone who chooses to participate in higher education should be able to do so.

'I am delighted that we have Divock Origi partnering with us to create new opportunities for young people in Liverpool.

'Divock is an inspiring figure for young people in our city and his support will help us in our aim to nurture local talent and potential.'
