France have won seven of their last eight games and scored 16 goals in the process.

France have won two of their last three games by a 3-0 scoreline.

Antoine Griezmann has scored in three of his last four appearances for France.

France haven’t shipped a goal in six of their last eight games

France have won their last five games without conceding a goal

Puskas Arena faithful set for more disappointment

Hungary came agonisingly close to earning an unexpected point against Portugal but a packed Puskas Arena were left disappointed as the home side fell apart in the closing stages. It took a cruel deflection for Raphael Guerreiro to open the scoring but once the first goal came another two soon followed.

It was an admirable defensive performance from Hungary but you get the feeling the problems were of Portugal’s own making. Fernando Santos opted to play Danilo Pereira and William Carvalho – two very conservative players – in his midfield pivot and they offered very little support to their star attackers.

That all changed when Renato Sanches came on though and with France boasting much more mobile and progressive options in N’Golo Kante, Paul Pogba and Adrien Rabiot we can’t expect the Hungarian defence to have quite such a comfortable time of things when they welcome 60,000 Hungarians back to the Puskas Arena.

France pass first test

France’s high-profile opener against Germany was an odd one. If you go by the stats it looks like Germany deserved the win but, in all honesty, France never had to get out of third-gear and it was only two marginal offside calls that limited them to a single goal.

Les Bleus looked absolutely terrifying on the break but they will be able to showcase their technical skills a bit more against Hungary’s low block. That win against Germany made it seven wins and one draw from their last eight games and it would be a huge shock if their winning streak ended on Saturday.

Griezmann to inspire Les Bleus domination

Hungary crumbled once the first goal went in and the midfield runners of France is likely to cause them huge problems at the back. I’m tipping the pre-tournament favourites to bag at least two goals and, with them winning two of their last three games 3-0, a repeat of Hungary’s 3-0 defeat is an attractive pick for a correct score prediction.

Antoine Griezmann should be one of the French players to have a real field day in Budapest. He has often disappointed for Barcelona but he becomes a different player when he pulls a France shirt on.

He has scored 37 goals in 92 international appearances and heads into this game having scored in three of his last four outings for Les Bleus. Back him to hit the net on Saturday.
