Chelsea hero Bridge tips Gilmour to follow Kane with Norwich loan

Chelsea hero Wayne Bridge believes that Billy Gilmour can develop on loan in the same way that Harry Kane did earlier in his career.

The Spurs striker and England captain spent time at Leicester City when he was not seen as a huge prospect.

He progressed hugely during that loan spell and then established himself as a first teamer for Tottenham.

Bridge is backing Gilmour to do the same with Chelsea after his loan spell at Norwich this season.

"I was surprised to see him go on a season-long loan to Norwich," said Bridge, per football.london.

"But, I also understand the reason behind it.

"I think he has a huge future at Chelsea - still young but he has so much quality and plays with maturity.

"Going out on loan can definitely help,

"A prime example being Harry Kane going to Leicester and then coming back and smashing it. The people that I know of who've been on loan, it's always helped them mature and learn from the experience."

"I thought he was great against England," Bridge finished regarding Gilmour's Euro 2020 performance in the group stages.

"And obviously it was a disappointment catching Covid, so he couldn't play against Croatia. He was missed massively."
