Chelsea plan to move Werner on and replace him with Haaland

Chelsea are one of the clubs to have been most seriously linked with Erling Haaland this transfer market, but they need to free up space and funds if they are to make a convincing bid for the Borussia Dortmund striker.

This is why they are reportedly looking to move Timo Werner on from the club, just one year after signing him from RB Leipzig for 53m euros.

He only had 12 goals and 15 assists across 52 matches in 2020/21, with just six goals in 35 Premier League appearances, so Chelsea are ready to part ways with the 25-year-old, according to the Daily Mail.

So keen are they to sign Haaland that Chelsea even offered Werner to Borussia Dortmund as a makeweight, according to Sky Sports Alemania. However, the Bundesliga side have rejected that idea.

Undeterred, Chelsea plan to keep looking for a buyer for Werner. If he doesn't leave, signing Haaland would be unviable.
