Brentford vs Arsenal predictions for Friday’s Premier League curtain-raiser. Brentford finally get their shot in the big time and begin their debut Premier League season at home to Arsenal. Read on for all our free predictions and betting tips.

Brentford are unbeaten at home since Valentine’s Day in competitive football, winning six and drawing four of their games since then.

Ivan Toney scored 33 goals in 48 Championship appearances for the Bees last season.

Arsenal only won 18 of their 38 top-flight matches last term.

Brentford failed to score in just five of their 24 home league games last season.

Premier League newcomers raise curtain on 2021/22
It’s been years in the making but Brentford are finally in the big time and they have the prestige of raising the curtain on the new Premier League campaign when they host Arsenal on Friday, and the Bees look to have a pretty good chance of kicking the season off with a positive result.

Thomas Frank’s side finally ended their playoff curse when they beat Swansea at Wembley in May and nobody can deny they deserve a top-flight berth. Brentford finished third in the Championship with an 87-point haul, securing a second consecutive third-place finish and their third playoff appearances since their promotion from League One in 2013/14.

Bees in high spirits after successful summer
Their squad already looked good enough to compete in the top-flight but their summer business has further strengthened their prospects. Kristoffer Ajer could be a huge presence at the back and both Frank Onyeka and Yoane Wissa look shrewd bits of business.

A win over Valencia in their final pre-season game will have the Bees in high spirits and with no defeats on home soil since Valentine’s Day the newcomers have every chance of taking something from their most prestigious opponents.

Gunners’ problems remain despite summer spending
Arsenal, while prestigious, aren’t exactly in the zenith of their lifecycle right now. They finished a dismal eighth for the second season running last year and are without European football for the first time in 25 years.

They did end last season strongly, but three defeats and a draw in pre-season won’t have the Gunners’ fans feeling confident, nor will their summer transfer business.

Mikel Arteta has spent big to improve the defence with the signing of Ben White and Albert Sambi Lokonga is a promising young midfielder but they have once again failed to address the main problem at the Emirates: A lack of cutting edge in midfield.

Martin Odegaard and Dani Ceballos have both returned to Real Madrid after underwhelming loan spells but they were two of the very few Arsenal players with the technical ability to unlock a defence with their passing. That problem is yet to be solved and until it is I expect Arteta’s men to struggle against well organised sides.

Hosts can take points from illustrious opponents
The Bees will be keen to avoid defeat and while they are a more attack-minded side than the likes of Watford they are still well organised. Backing them in the double chance market looks a good option and with four of their last eight competitive home games ending all square a 1-1 correct score prediction appeals.

If you’re looking to dabble in the anytime goalscorer market you could do a lot worse than backing Ivan Toney to get his campaign off to a flying start. Brentford build their attacking play around Toney, who scored an incredible 33 in the Championship last season, and he will undoubtedly be their main source of  goals this season.

Brentford predicted lineup – Raya / Jansson, Ajer, Pinnock / Roerslev, Janelt, Norgaard, Canos / Fosu-Henry / Mbuemo, Toney

Arsenal predicted lineup – Leno / Chambers, White, Mari, Tierney / Xhaka, Elneny / Pepe, Rowe, Aubameyang / Lacazette
