Leicester City vs Manchester City Football Preview and Predictions 2021

Leicester City vs Manchester City predictions for Saturday’s Community Shield clash at Wembley. The traditional curtain-raiser of the Community Shield comes around this Saturday as Premier League champions Manchester City face FA Cup winners Leicester. Read on for all our free predictions and betting tips.
Manchester City lost three of their final five competitive games last season.
Three of the last four Community Shield games have finished level after 90 minutes.
Jamie Vardy has scored four goals in his last four appearances against Manchester City.
Three of the last four Community Shield fixtures have ended in a 1-1 draw after 90 minutes.
Five of the last six Community Shield fixtures have featured under 2.5 goals.

Foxes can push City to the end
Leicester City finally got their hands on the FA Cup thanks to an absolute thunderbolt from Youri Tielemans in May and Brendan Rodgers’ Foxes have been doing a good job of cementing themselves as best of the rest over the past couple of seasons.

They haven’t won the Community Shield since 1971 but this fixture could be more winnable than it first appears and I’m backing them to push Manchester City all the way on Saturday.

Weakened City to struggle at Wembley
The Citizens may have completed the £100 million signing of Jack Grealish on Thursday but they are still without a number of players heading into this clash, with Zach Steffen expected to start between the sticks and a front three of Riyad Mahrez, Bernardo Silva and Sam Edozie rumoured.

This weakened lineup puts the teams on a more level playing field and with three of the last four Community Shield ties being taken to penalties I’m expecting a closely fought match.

Vardy to punish Citizens again
Manchester City lost three of their final five competitive games last season and were also beaten 5-2 at home to Leicester in the opening stages of the last campaign. Jamie Vardy scored a hat-trick in that game and has netted four goals in his last four appearances against the Citizens, so he looks a good shout in the anytime goalscorer market.

As far as the overall result is concerned, backing Leicester in the double chance market looks good value considering Man City’s weakened squad and with three of the last four Community Shield games ending 1-1 after normal time I’m backing that for my correct score prediction.
