Premier League champions Manchester City take on Leicester in a battle for the first trophy of the season on Saturday, the Community Shield.

In a match that marks the beginning of the domestic season, City will take on last year's FA Cup champions Leicester, who could do with another trophy after the disappointment of missing out on a top-four finish once more last season.

The final was contested by Arsenal and Liverpool last year, with the former running out winners on penalties in a behind closed doors Wembley Stadium.

As we saw throughout the European Championships, Wembley will be 'partially full' for Saturday's final, with stadia across the county to be at full capacity as the Premier League season commences the following Friday.

It's the first real test for both clubs ahead of the new campaign, with Leicester kicking off the 2021/22 season at home to Wolves, while City travel to Harry Kane's Tottenham in their opener.

The match, which notoriously marks the start of the domestic campaign, will kick-off at 5.15pm BST.

It will be played at Wembley Stadium, with fans set to attend once more, after 60,000 fans were permitted to watch the final of the European Championships in July.

Leicester have been allocated 26,639 seats and City 26,602 in a partially full stadium.

The match will be broadcast live on ITV in the UK, with their ITV Player streaming service also available for viewers.

It could be an exciting watch for the Leicester fans, who might just get a first glimpse of three new signings in competitive action, being Boubakary Soumare, Patson Daka and Ryan Bertrand.

Soumare could well be thrust into the deep end in midfield, though Daka may find himself on the bench, with the prolific Jamie Vardy starting in his place. Bertrand may also be in the startling lineup, though Luke Thomas is also an option.

Neither Kasper Schmeichel or Danny Ward have returned to pre-season as of yet, though, and will be unlikely to start. The same goes with Jonny Evans.

There is also the added blow of losing Wesley Fofana to a serious injury in their pre-season clash against Villarreal on Wednesday, where he suffered a fractured fibula following a late tackle.

As for City, Pep Guardiola revealed towards the end of July that he would field a 'second team' for the contest, with a number of players going deep in the European Championships and Copa America.

Nonetheless, the likes of Ruben Dias, Joao Cancelo, Nathan Ake, Benjamin Mendy, Fernandinho, Ilkay Gundogan and Riyad Mahrez have all featured throughout pre-season and should be involved. Zac Steffen could also get the nod in goal.

Meanwhile, Jack Grealish - who is set to complete his record-breaking £100m transfer from Aston Villa - could also feature, having previously returned to training with the Villains.

Leicester vs Man City: The odds

City's home tie against Leicester last season, which came in just their second game of the campaign, provided one of the shock results of the year.

Guardiola's side were thumped 5-2 at home, with Jamie Vardy scoring a hat-trick.

Of course, City bounced back and eventually strolled to the league title, with their 2-0 victory over Leicester in the reverse fixture in April moving them 17 points clear at the head of the table.

Unsurprisingly, particularly after Leicester's capitulation at the end of last season, it's City who are the overwhelming favourites to prevail on Saturday.

They are at 4/9 to lift the trophy, 10/11 to get the job done in the initial 90 minutes. Meanwhile, Leicester are the underdogs at 13/8 to win the title, 29/10 within the 90.
