Lille vs PSG Football Preview and Predictions 2021

Lille vs PSG Predictions, Betting Tips and Match Previews ahead of Sunday’s Trophee de Champions meeting at the Bloomfield Stadium in Tel Aviv, Israel.  PSG will be looking for revenge after being denied the Ligue 1 title by Lille last season.  Read on for our predictions.

Lille lost title winning coach Christophe Galtier at the end of last season.

PSG beat Les Dogues in their one cup meeting last season.

Lille have seen two key men, keeper keeper Mike Maignan and midfielder Boubakary Soumare, depart over the summer.

PSG look for Lille revenge

French champions Lille take on Coupe de France winners Paris Saint-Germain in the Trophee de Champions in Tel Aviv on Sunday.

Lille produced a huge upset by beating PSG to the title last season, finishing one-point ahead of the Parisians, but defending the trophy looks a huge ask.  Christophe Galtier opted to call time on his tenure as coach after their title success and former Bordeaux boss Jocelyn Gourvennec has stepped in to take the reins for his first role since being relegated with Gunigamp in 2019.

There hasn’t been quite the exodus of players that was expected at Lille but some big names have left regardless, most notably keeper Mike Maignan and midfielder Boubakary Soumare, and there may be further exits before the transfer window closes.

PSG will travel to the Bloomfield Stadium without marquee summer signing Sergio Ramos  as he continues his recovery from injury but fellow new arrivals Achraf Hakimi and Gianluigi Donnarumma are likely to be involved.

Lille claimed four points from two Ligue 1 meetings with PSG last season, although the Parc des Princes club did win their Coupe de France meeting.

This will be Mauricio Pochettino’s first full season in charge in Paris and we’re expecting PSG to make a statement of intent in this cup game.  There is a trophy at stake, and they may well be looking for revenge against the team that denied them the title last season.

This is a huge ask for Gourvennec for his first competitive game in charge and we’re backing PSG with a -1 handicap, while a 3-0 win for the Parisians has some appeal in the correct score market as they ended last season with three wins to nil and came through their pre-season campaign unbeaten.
