Title contenders lock horns at Anfield
Saturday evening marks the first occasion we get to see two of the most likely challengers to Manchester City’s crown go head-to-head in the 2021/22 Premier League and both teams have looked very impressive indeed so far this season.

Liverpool have cantered to victories against both Norwich and Burnley and, despite their relatively easy fixtures at the start of the term, you get the feeling Jurgen Klopp’s side are back to their best after a difficult season last year.

However, beating this Chelsea side could be a step too far for Liverpool, especially considering they have only won four of their last 13 Premier League home games.

Wing-backs key to Chelsea’s success
Chelsea kicked their title challenge off with complete domination over Crystal Palace on gameweek one and they looked no less impressive last weekend, beating Arsenal 2-0 at the Emirates thanks to first-half goals from Romelu Lukaku and Reece James.

After an unplayable performance on his second Chelsea debut, Lukaku is the obvious choice in the goalscorer markets but I think the value lies elsewhere. Thomas Tuchel places a lot of emphasis on his wing-backs’ attacking play and this has paid dividends so far.

Marcos Alonso got the opener against Palace and Reece James found the net last weekend. One of Chelsea’s wing-backs has scored in four of their last six Premier League games and Alonso – Tuchel’s favoured option on the left – has two of those. I’m backing him at big odds to get on the scoresheet.

Tight affair expected on Merseyside
As far as the overall result goes, it’s hard to choose between these two in-form sides. Chelsea have only lost three league games since Tuchel’s arrival in January and they have won six of their eight meetings with the so-called Big Six, including at Anfield in March.

This Liverpool side is much-improved since then, though, so a Chelsea double chance looks a good shout alongside a 1-1 correct score prediction.

Chelsea predicted lineup: Mendy; Azpilicueta, Christensen, Rudiger; James, Kante, Jorginho, Alonso; Havertz, Mount; Lukaku
