Messi still leading The top 10 Ballon d'Or power rankings

The 2021/22 season is already underway which means that the Ballon d'Or race is back on, with players moving up and down depending on how they've fared in the first few matches.

As of right now, the likes of Leo Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo are yet to properly start the season after both changing clubs this summer.

The Argentine has only played 30 minutes for Paris Saint-Germain so far, while his nemesis completed 30 minutes for Juventus before leaving for Manchester United.

Robert Lewandowski and Jorginho have added one more trophy to their list of accolades, winning the German Super Cup and UEFA European Super Cup respectively.

Besides that, the Polish striker started the new season in style, banging seven goals in just four matches.

Gianluigi Donnarumma's chances to get the Ballon d'Or — which were rather high following the 2020 Euros — do not look that big at the moment. The Italian goalkeeper is being benched by Keylor Navas at his new club.

With all that being said, here are our updated Ballon d'Or rankings as we slightly change the top 5. As for the players of specific interest to the Real Madrid fans, Karim Benzema moves two spots up while Ronaldo continues in the fourth spot.
