Arsenal not interested in renewing Lacazette's contract

Alexandre Lacazette's Arsenal career is drawing to an end as neither the player nor the club are interested in extending the Frenchman's contract.

Lacazette has been marginalised by coach Mikel Arteta this season and is yet to make a Premier League start, although he did play 90 minutes and score a penalty in Wednesday's 3-0 win over AFC Wimbledon in the Carabao Cup.

According to a report on 90min, Lacazette's lack of game time is convincing him of the need to move on while there is also little enthusiasm from the Arsenal hierarchy to offer the 30-year-old an extension on his current deal, which expires next June.

With little prospect of him staying, Arsenal are even considering finding a buyer for the forward when the January transfer window opens.

The report adds that Lacazette's former club Lyon are interested in bringing the striker home but he could still remain in the Premier League and even in London, with West Ham United and Crystal Palace also keen on the Frenchman.

Lacazette became Arsenal's record signing when he signed from Lyon in 2017 for £46.5million but could leave in January for under £10million as he would become available for nothing only six months later.

There is also the prospect of Arsenal using Lacazette as currency to try and sign new players.

Spanish newspaper Estadio Deportivo, based in Seville, has reported that Sevilla could be interested in Lacazette in part exchange for prolific Moroccan striker Youssef En-Nesyri.

En-Nesyri hit 18 LaLiga goals last season and also lit up the Champions League with six strikes in eight appearances and only four starts.

Sevilla are poised to lose En-Nesyri in January for several weeks when the African Cup of Nations starts up and could be open to selling the Moroccan to Mikel Arteta's side for less than his reported evaluation of £68million if they can get Lacazette in return.
