Brazilian legend Ronaldo supports hosting World Cups every two years

Speaking at a FIFA press conference about the possibility of the FIFA World Cup being hosted once every two years, Brazilian legend Ronaldo Nazario said: “It's a new opportunity for new countries to have a chance, to fight for qualification.

“Every two years is amazing. And of course, if you ask Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo if they would love to have more opportunities to win the World Cup, I'm sure they'd say yes.”

Arsene Wenger, who currently works as FIFA’s Chief of Global Football Development, is trying to push through a plan to host the World Cup every two years, reducing the period from every 4 years.

This has been rejected by the European Leagues Group, who indicate it could have a bad impact on the football ecosphere.

The next FIFA World Cup will take place in Qatar in 2022 and is expected to take place during the winter period, something which could force European Leagues to change their schedule for the 2022/23 season as well.
