In defeating the reigning European champions, Pep Guardiola now holds the record of racking up more wins than any other coach in Manchester City history.

City put in a display that was reminiscent of Guardiola's all-conquering Barcelona side, with 60 percent possession on the Blues' home turf.

"The guys were outstanding today. At this stadium, against this opponent, to do what we did makes me so proud," Guardiola told BT Sport after the match.

"We came here and played our game. Sometimes you are not able do it because the opponent is better, but we were encouraged to press high and they could not build-up from the back."

On his own feat, Guardiola added that

"Setting the win record makes me proud. We've done it at Stamford Bridge, against the Champions League winners.

"We've been magnificent together. It makes me proud, not just for myself but especially for the club."
