Jurgen Klopp explains why he has 'nothing new to say' about Mo Salah contract talks

At the press conference ahead of the Crystal Palace game, Jurgen Klopp was asked for an update on the contract talks between Mohamed Salah and Liverpool.

"Look, there is nothing really to say about it, especially not from me because I’m not involved. So no [update to report]," the boss replied, as quoted by the club's official website.

"Obviously the only thing I am really interested in is how Mo looks, how sharp he is, how committed he is in the moment and that’s absolutely spot on, really good, and that’s everything. Nothing new to say about it."

The Egy[tian's current deal expires in 2023, and Liverpool's desire to secure a new long-term contract for their best goalscorer has been extensively reported over the last months.

There are no reliable reports as to why exactly there's no agreement yet, but it's obvious that Salah would love a new deal to reflect the important role he's played for the Reds since arriving at Anfield in 2017.
