Marcus Rashford explains why he won't 'stick to football' amid child food poverty fight

"Disappointingly for some, the 'stick to football' advice doesn't cut it where I'm from," Marcus Rashford wrote in a column for The Spectator.

"See, when my community had nothing to call their own, they always found something in the way of kindness to give me.

"I am a product of their compassion, of their drive and of their willingness to offer me more than what was on my doorstep."

The Manchester United attacker continued: "I'd be doing that community and my family a disservice if I did not use my platform to speak on behalf of the millions whose voices are not being heard."

Rashford has been at the forefront of a nationwide campaign to end child food poverty since the first coronavirus lockdown in March 2020.

Since then, he's won many awards and made brilliant progress but unfortunately, several fans and critics reckon he should 'stick to football'. Doesn't look like they'll say that anytime soon!
