FIFA has been instructed to allocate more than five World Cup berths to Africa.

Hugo Broos, the head coach of South Africa, has urged FIFA to consider allocating more than five berths to Africa ahead of the 2022 World Cup tournament.

Only five slots are available for African nations at next year's World Cup in Qatar, but Europe will grab 13 of the 32 berths.

In their first four matches in the 2022 World Cup qualifiers, Broos has guided Bafana Bafana to three victories and one tie, putting them atop Group G.

Only the winners of each group will progress to the next round of qualification, where the five African teams will be determined.

It is not fair that good European teams have an easier time qualifying for the World Cup than [good African teams].

"Ghana, Cameroon, Nigeria, Algeria, Senegal, Morocco, Tunisia, and Egypt are all in Africa."

"You already have eight excellent teams!" I'm hoping that by 2026, things will have changed... Broos told The Citizen, "It's a shame they waited so long to do it because Africa deserves more teams."
