Newcastle United want Keylor Navas to be foundation of new project

The recent purchase of Newcastle United by the Saudi Public Investment Fund has sparked a wave of transfer rumours, with the Magpies now having the financial muscle to spend big in January.

One of the names linked with a move to England's north-east is former Real Madrid goalkeeper Keylor Navas, who is currently at Paris Saint-Germain.

The Sun have put forward Keylor's name as one Newcastle are keen on, and he could be forced to find a new club soon after Gianluigi Donnarumma's arrival in Paris.

After Thibaut Courtois' signing at Real Madrid, Keylor originally kept his place in the XI, only to be forced out later by the Belgian. The same could now happen to him with the Italian pushing for a starting spot.

Keylor is one of the high-profile names linked with the club, as is Real Madrid's Gareth Bale.

Newcastle United's ambition
One thing is certain now and that is that the Magpies are going to compete in the transfer window, with co-owner Amanda Staveley setting the target of winning the Premier League in the next five years and becoming as big as Manchester City and PSG.

As a result, a goalkeeper of Keylor's calibre is one that appeals greatly to them and their project at St James' Park.
