Ole confirms Man Utd will appeal Wan-Bissaka red card using De Bruyne as example

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has held up Kevin De Bruyne's tackle on Idrissa Gueye as a prime example as to why Manchester United will be appealing the red card suspension imposed on Aaron Wan Bissaka.

Full-back Wan-Bissaka was red-carded after 35 minutes in United's Champions League group stage opener against Young Boys when he stretched for a loose ball and stamped on the foot of Christopher Martins.

The Red Devils went on to suffer a shock defeat as a result, and have been dealt a double blow following UEFA's plans to uphold the decision, meaning the player will miss two matches.

Speaking during his pre-match press conference this week, Solskjaer outlined his disappointment with the decision and maintained that United would 'of course' be appealing.

He outlined that United would be armed with a prime example as to why the decision shouldn't be applied, and will cite midfielder of rivals Man City Kevin De Bruyne as a reason why.

During Wednesday night's Champions League tie with PSG, De Bruyne went in late on Idrissa Gueye and left the midfielder writhing on the ground in pain, only to then receive a yellow card.

The Norwegian boss said: 'I’m very surprised, very disappointed. Of course we’re going to appeal.

'It’s almost a three-game ban because it’s early in the game, 30 minutes, so it’s two thirds of another game, and if you look at other tackles from the other side of the city as well, that’s probably more dangerous, and that’s a yellow card, that’s inconsistency, that’s football for us.'

The United boss has also hit out at the Premier League for landing them a 12.30pm kick off at home to Everton on Saturday having played in the Champions League on Wednesday night.

Solskjaer said: 'We’ve had, absolutely no explanation, it’s TV, no common sense at all.

'Us and Chelsea played Wednesday night and could easily have played Sunday and Liverpool and City Saturday. Common sense might not be so common.'
