The UEFA Bidding Process For Euro 2028 Host Cities Has Been Announced

Countries interested in hosting the 2028 European Championship must confirm their proposal by March of next year, according to Uefa, Europe's soccer governing body, which unveiled the bidding procedure on Tuesday.

Joint bids from member associations will be allowed provided the two countries are "geographically compact," according to Uefa, but automatic qualification as hosts will not be guaranteed if more than two countries file a joint offer.

In April, the bidders will be notified, and the hosts will be chosen in September 2023.

Minimum requirements include having 10 stadiums available, one of which has a seating capacity of at least 60 000 people and two venues with a seating capacity of at least 50 000. Euro 2020 was held in 11 locations across Europe in June-July, after being postponed by a year owing to the Covid-19 pandemic, with Italy defeating England in the final at Wembley Stadium.

Germany will host the 2024 edition, after defeating Turkey in a decision by Uefa's Executive Committee in 2018.
