Odion Ighalo Receives Words Of Support From Eagles’ Colleagues

Al-Shabab of Saudi Arabia striker, Odion Jude Ighalo has received warm words of support from his colleagues in the Super Eagles, ahead of his expected return to the tem for Saturday’s World Cup qualifier against Liberia.

Megasportsarena.com reports that the warm acclaim for Ighalo is being led by SSC Napoli of Italy hitman, Victor Osimhen, the lad everyone thought would hate to hear about the erstwhile top striker’s impending return to the Nigerian camp.

The declaration came ahead of the expected arrival of Ighalo late Wednesday, as the former Watrord and Manchester United as well as ex-Changchun Yatai and Shanghai Shenhua of China ace was one of the last two to report for duty.

Ighalo, alongside Ighalo and Enyimba goalkeeper, John Noble were the only ones that missed the start of real preparations and training by the Eagles in Morocco.

It got tighter on Wednesday, as the players worked out in the gym in the morning and had a feel of the pitch at Grand Stade de Tanger in the afternoon, as coach of the side, Gernot Rohr began tactical building for Saturday’s game.

Rohr is hoping to have at his disposal the full complement of players by Wednesday and shared his observations after the team’s first workout on grass and Osimhen said they all look forward to welcoming Ighalo.

In contrast with speculation that Osimhen would be adverse to seeing Ighalo back in the squad, the former Ultimate Strikers of Lagos, VfL Wolfsburg of Germany, Sporting Charleroi of Belgium and Lille Metropole of France ace stressed that he is already looking forward to the reunion.

The youngster added that he sees Ighalo as a mentor and described his return to the Eagles, more than two years after he retired from international football, as a welcome development.

While adding that anything decided by the officials for the Eagles’ progress is acceptable to him, Osimhen said he is looking forward to playing with the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations top scorer.

Osimhen posited: “It’s good for the team and of course the coaches and the Federation know what’s best for the team. We welcome him with open arms and looking forward to receiving him in the camp.

“He’s like a big brother to me and we love him a lot and I’ll learn a lot from him, I admire him so much so I think for me it’s one of the most important things to have him in the squad.”
