Thomas Tuchel sees himself staying long-term at Chelsea

Tuchel says he will try to stay even longer than he did with Mainz.

He said: "I had one year in the academy and five years at Mainz in my longest spell so far in professional football and I had the strong feeling in the last year that my energy was not on the highest level anymore.

"We had built connections to the players and decisions had to be made as some enthusiasm was lacking if we continue.

"We took at this point the decision to inform the club, in the winter, that this will be the last half season because I felt I will lack some per cent of energy and this is absolutely necessary to be on the very top.

"The quality and results are the most important [in management] otherwise you have no chance to stay. If you have that, or if you feel happy, and the club and manager build a trust like in Liverpool or at Manchester City, and of course Burnley – it can be a successful story.

"I can tell you today that I will do my very best to stay as long as possible because I like where I am.

"I enjoy working every single day in this club and league, so for me it is the perfect fit. It is a weekly business and I am fully aware of it."
