Ghana captain Andre Ayew ready for Gabon clash after head injury

Black Stars captain Andre Ayew is fit for the Ghana game against Gabon in Group C of the Africa Cup of Nations.

The 32-year-old missed training of Wednesday raising doubts over his fitness and availability for the Gabon game.

Andre Ayew is expected to lead his team on Friday as the four times African champions chase their first win of the tournament.

Captain of the Black Stars of Ghana, Andre Ayew is available for the epic group C encounter with Gabon at the Africa Cup of Nations.

The Al Sadd attacker missed training on Wednesday after he had stated after the Morocco game, he was unwell for days.

However, coach Milovan Rajevac in the pre-match conference revealed his skipper is fit and he is likely to start the Gabon game.

"He suffered a knock and was hurt and needed stitches and he is feeling okay now. About team selection, I don’t talk about selection before the match so let’s see what happens," said the Serbian trainer.

Ayew suffered a cut to his eye in the opening game against Morocco, but that wont be a problem for the player on Friday.

Ghana needs to win to get their Africa Cup of Nations campaign back on track, before the final group match against debutants Comoros Island.

Meanwhile, the team faces a tough task, especially with Gabon talisman Pierre-Emerick Aubamayeng returning to the line up for tonight's game.

Gabon won their first game after beating Comros Island, and sit top of the group, while Ghana is at the foot of the table. In the group's other game, Morocco will engage Comoros.
