Barcelona eyeing new world record in women's El Clasico

Barcelona are set to smash the world record attendance in a women's football match when they face Real Madrid in the Champions League semi-final at Camp Nou.

The highest ever attendance in the womens game was between Barcelona and Atletico Madrid at the Wanda Metropolitano with 60,000 fans present, on March 17, 2019.

However, that record will be obliterated when Barca face Madrid in the second leg of their Champions League semi-final with 98,000 fans expected. Barca won the first leg 3-1.

Barcelona already sold out Camp Nou for the game, which means this record will be broken if at least 70% of ticket holders show up.

This is another big win for the women game as it strives to gain more recognition in the greatest team sport.
