Italy targets Ancelotti as replacement for Mancini

The Italian FA have pencilled down Carlo Ancelotti as a possible replacement for Roberto Mancini if the Azzurri boss decides to resign, Gazzetta dello Sport claim.

With Italy missing out on the 2022 World Cup after a shambolic display against North Macedonia, Mancini could resign his role, although FA president Gravina has urged him to continue.

If Mancini leaves, Ancelotti and former Real Madrid defender Fabio Cannavaro will make the first two-man shortlist.

Real Madrid have a deal with Ancelotti until the summer of 2023. However, they may not be able to hold back Carlo if he decides to walk away.
