Real Madrid offered Ronaldo-esque clause to Mbappe, Kylian turned it down

Real Madrid have a 'verbal agreement' in place with Kylian Mbappe, according to Gianluca Di Marzio.

The La Liga giants are ready to offer the Frenchman a five-year contract worth €50 million and a signing bonus of €100 million.

Madrid also wanted to insert a special clause in the deal that could potentially allow to make a lot of money if the forward decided to back out of the agreement.

While Cristiano Ronaldo joined in 2009, the deal to bring him to the club was agreed in 2008. A special clause said that Ronaldo would have to pay €30 million if he refused to honour the agreement.

Real Madrid wanted to do the same with Mbappe this summer, but the 23-year-old refused. Therefore, the France international will not lose a penny even he decided to stay at Paris Saint-Germain beyond the 2021/22 campaign.
