UEFA to sanction Man City, Atletico Madrid and 2 more clubs for disruption in multiple quarter-finals

UEFA are expected to bring sanctions against Man City and Atletico Madrid for what transpired in their Champions League quarter-finals second leg, as per Marca.

A huge brawl happened on the pitch towards the end of the game and a few City players could be handed suspensions ahead of their semi-finals against Real Madrid.

Atletico will also have some players punished, but those will come into effect in next season’s Champions League.

Meanwhile, UEFA are also planning to bring sanctions against Barcelona and Eintracht Frankfurt for the controversy in their UEFA Europa League quarter-finals second leg.

The game, which Frankfurt won 3-2, saw over 30,000 Frankfurt supporters turn up at the Camp Nou.

UEFA’s match rules require for the away team’s supporters to be situated in a designated away stand and only 5,000 tickets were supposed to be allocated to the Frankfurt fans.

However, Barca’s supporters sold their own tickets to the German fans, allowing a huge amount to be crowded all over Camp Nou.

Barca are likely to be punished for letting this happen, while Eintracht also face the wrath of UEFA for not being able to control their fans.
