Eric Garcia: 'Araujo and I showed we can replace Pique'

"Ronald Araujo and I have to show that we are capable of replacing Gerard Pique, who has been the best centre back in the last decade," Eric Garcia said after the Real Betis win.

Pique could not play against Betis due to injury. Normally, Pique starts alongside Araujo in Barcelona's defence, and Garcia is the third-choice centre-back.

In all fairness, Eric didn't have the best match against Los Beticos. He recorded only one defensive contribution (one interception) and lost all of his 4 duels. Araujo had a much better night.
