Ryan Reynolds trademarks the Wrexham name as he bids to grow club on global scale
The Canadian movie star has recently trademarked the club's name as he bids to transform Wrexham into a globally-known brand.
Reynolds and McElhenney have been granted copyright protection in both the UK and USA for a number of names and phrases to do with the National League side.
According to the Sun, 'Wrexham FC 1864', 'Wrexham FC' and 'Wrexham Is The Name' are just a few of the trademarked phrases across the two countries, though the last one is only copyrighted in the USA.
There is also a copyright pending on 'Welcome to Wrexham' in the USA, which is the name of the docuseries on Reynolds and McElhenney's purchase of the club as well as the club itself, which premiered in mid-2022.
The rights to the names associated with the Welsh club will allow the co-owners to produce an array for branded goods under the club's name, with his holding company, R.R. McReynolds Company LLC, acquiring the trademarks to market goods in five different classes.
Things that can be expected are clothes, sportswear, toys, luggage, games and entertainment.
There is already a selection of merchandise available for purchase through Wrexham's club shop, with McElhenney already teasing a new line of hats when the co-owners were in the stands to watch the five-goal classic against Notts County on Monday.
Both teams were level at the top of the National League with the sole promotion spot at stake.
Notts County took the lead, though two Wrexham goals brought them ahead briefly before Notts County drew the scores level in the second half.
The Racecourse Ground was rocking as the club's Hollywood co-owners went through all the emotions in the stands.
Elliot Lee put Wrexham ahead once again, before veteran goalkeeper Ben Foster made a game-winning save in stoppage time, becoming the hero.
Wrexham now sit top of the National League, with the prospect of beating the record points total in British professional football, which sits at 106, with four games left.
