Chelsea 2-1 Club America: lineups, goalscorers, key events

Chelsea have beaten Club America 2-1 in the first friendly of the pre-season. Timo Werner and Mason Mount scored for Chelsea, Reece James netted an own goal.

Mount has been named Man of the Match.

Lineups
Here is Chelsea's starting XI: Kepa; Sarr, Thiago Silva, Chalobah; Chilwell, Barkley, Gallagher, Kenedy; Hudson-Odoi, Havertz, Ziyech.

Tuchel made the following changes at half-time: Mount for Gallagher, Jorginho for Barkley, Pulisic for Ziyech, James for Sarr, Azpilicueta for Chalobah, Emerson for Kenedy, Bettinelli for Kepa, Alonso for Chilwell, Ampadu for Thiago Silva, Batshuayi for Havertz, Werner for Hudson-Odoi.

So here's what Chelsea's XI looked like after the break: Bettinelli; Sarr, Ampadu, Azpilicueta; Emerson, Jorginho, Mount, Alonso; Werner, Batshuayi, Pulisic.

Key events
Chelsea had a number of chances in the first half, with Havertz, Kenedy and Ziyech missing opportunities to break the deadlock.

Timo Werner opened the scoring in the 55th minute. Jorginho played a fantastic clipped ball to Reece James inside the box, Reece showed some brilliant chest control before laying it on a plate for Timo. Werner hit the goalie first but scored on the rebound.

Batshuayi could have doubled the lead shortly after that but missed a sitter after Pulisic played him through.

The Mexican side equalised five minutes after Timo's goal through a Reece James own goal. It was a curious one as Reece passed the ball to Bettinelli but it was a poor pass and the goalie could not control it so it ended in the net.

Mason Mount found the winner in the 83rd minute. He received the ball from Alonso next to the opposition's box, ran past a defender, dropped his shoulder and hit the far corner from outside the box.
