Barcelona decide Sociedad striker Willian Jose is their main target

Barcelona are waiting for Ousmane Dembele to undergo surgery next Tuesday and thus confirm how long he will be out for in order to obtain the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF)'s approval to sign a Spanish-based replacement.

In the meantime, Barcelona have been searching for players that may be suitable and they have decided who their number one target is: Real Sociedad striker Willian Jose.

The 28-year-old Brazilian is viewed as the ideal player to come in and cover the injuries to Luis Suarez and Dembele, as well as the departure of Carles Perez to Roma, however the big stumbling block is how much he may cost, with his release clause currently standing at 70 million euros.

Thus, Barcelona are trying to figure out ways that they can come to an agreement with Real Sociedad for Willian Jose, though the Basques will not make things easy for the Catalans.

Despite recently falling behind Alex Isak in Imanol Alguacil's starting XI, Willian Jose has shown that he is in good form this season after scoring eight goals in LaLiga Santander.

In addition, La Real have hopes of securing a top-four spot in LaLiga Santander, while they are also in the semi-final of the Copa del Rey after beating Real Madrid 4-3 on Thursday night, a match Willian Jose did not play in.

Willian Jose has been a target for Barcelona for some time and, in fact, they even entered negotiations with Real Sociedad in January, yet they were unable to come to an agreement, just like what happened with Valencia forward Rodrigo Moreno.

Another thing to note is that Quique Setien previously tried to sign the Brazilian while he was in charge of Real Betis, with the two having worked together at Las Palmas in the 2015/16 season.
