'It doesn't happen every day' - Betis boss happy to stun Real Madrid

Real Betis boss Rubi expressed his satisfaction at beating Real Madrid at the Estadio Benito Villamarin.

The coach, who has faced questions over his future in recent weeks, saw his side beat Los Blancos thanks to goals from Sidnei and Cristian Tello.

"[It's more than three points] for me and for Betis because we've had a bad run and you don't beat the league leaders every day," Rubi said.

"Today is a very happy day, the team deserved it.

"We suffered at the end, but the rest of the game was deserved.

"You always try to help the team.

"We deserved a lot more from recent games and we didn't have the luck to win them.

"There are days when your changes come off and others not; it doesn't depend on the coach.

"Today we had a perfect game where everything we'd planned came off.

"It was a shame to go into half-time level, which happened for us against Barcelona.

"We try to do the best possible in each game, with lots of hours of dedication and I'm very calm in that sense."

The win was ideal preparation ahead of next weekend's derby with Sevilla at the Estadio Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan.

"We know that it'll be a tough battle, a difficult game against a strong opponent," Rubi noted.

"For us, the fans don't forget it when you get a result.

"They push us a lot to have a great game to try to get the win.

"It's the standout game because of the repercussions for the rest of the season and we don't want to waste it."
