Chelsea reward tough-tackling defender Charlie Wiggett a new contract to remain with Frank Lampard side.

The 17-year-old centre-back agreed his first professional agreement with the west London outfit last month, without disclosing the length of understanding among club and player.

Wiggett has represented AFC Newbury and Swindon Town preceding joining Chelsea as a U15 schoolboy.



The 2000-born player has been described by Chelsea’s official website as a safeguard who leads from the back with his extreme handling and vocal personality.

Wiggett has played 11 games altogether in the U18 Premier League since making his introduction for that age bunch during the 2017-2018 season and scored two goals from his defensive position.

He has also shown up for the youthful Blues in the U18 Premier League up and FA Youth Cup.

Frank Lampard side are currently sitting in fourth place in the long table as Premier League set to return to next month with ten matches to go.
