Espanyol's Leandro Cabrera becomes a transfer target for Liverpool

It is being reported that Liverpool are eyeing up Espanyol's Uruguayan defender Leandro Cabrera as a replacement for Dejan Lovren.

Liverpool's scouts have been searching far and wide for a new centre-back and Cabrera is in among the candidates.

"With a reported release clause of 15 million euros, the 28-year-old would perhaps represent a more consistent option than Lovren, with the added bonus of being able to play out from the back," says a report from the Liverpool Echo.

Espanyol signed Cabrera from Getafe for 9m euros as recently as the 2020 winter transfer window.

However, Cabrera is not the only name on Liverpool's list of potential centre-backs, as he is joined by the likes of Borussia Dortmund's Dan-Axel Zagadou, PSG's Tanguy Kouassi and Real Betis' Zou Feddal. Follow us on Twitter and on Facebook
