Real Madrid 3-0 Valencia: Marco Asensio back with a bang and an assist

Real Madrid attacking midfielder Marco Asensio helped the Los Blancos top a 3-0 win over Valencia at the Alfredo di Stefano Stadium on Thursday evening after the came in as a substitute to score and provided an assist for Karim Benzema in the second half.

Valencia was unfortunate not to have taken the lead in the 14th minute of the clash after Moreno Rodrigo’s effort crashed against the woodwork following a nice play from the Valencia midfield that opened up Real Madrid defence.

The Video Assistant Referee came to Los Blancos’ rescue six minutes later as Rodrigo had his goal disallowed due to an offside in the build-up, much to the disappointment of the Valencia stars.

Real Madrid finally got their reward for their high offensive play after Eden Hazard got a pass from Luka Modric to set up Benzema for the neat finish into the bottom corner in the 60th minute of the clash.

Los Blancos had to wait until the 74th minute for the second goal as substitute Marcos Asensio found the far corner with his very first touch of the season from Ferland Mendy’s cross on the left flank.

Asensio was also involved in the third goal has he provided an assist for Benzema who controlled well before rifling the ball the into the top corner in the 86th minute.

It went from bad to worse for Valencia, who had Kang-In Lee sent off in stoppage time for kicking Sergio Ramos as Zidane’s moved to within two points of the defending champions.
