Ballon d'Or doesn't 'drive him crazy: Real Madrid striker Benzema

The Real Madrid striker reckons it's a part of being a professional footballer.

"I am a footballer and I try to be the best player in the world," he added.

In a Q&A session, Karim Benzema was asked whether he thinks about winning the Ballon d'Or and he replied: "Sure, all the time, from my childhood, but it is not something that drives me crazy every day.

"The term Ballon d'Or is always there when you are a professional player & when you are competitive."

The Real Madrid striker goes on to add: "I never try to define myself as 9 or not a 9, as a 10 or 11; I am a footballer and I try to be the best player in the world."

Benzema has enjoyed an excellent season for Madrid and played an instrumental role as the club lifted the La Liga trophy for the 34th time.

He's been with Los Blancos for 11 years now and after numerous ups and downs, it looks like Benzema has come into his own.
