Ex-Super Eagles Goalkeeper Rallies Support For

Former Super Eagles goalkeeper trainer, Ike Shorunmu has tasked Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to rally behind Vincent Enyeama following his recent appointment as goalkeeper trainer.

Enyeama, who has been without a club since his departure from Lille in 2018 and after an inconclusive test in Dijon, landed his first coaching job at Iris Club de Croix, Hauts-de-France to train both goalkeepers of the reserves as well as the U16 teams.

But the former FC Sion goalkeeper maintained that Enyeama’s wealth of experience at Iris de Croix will benefit Nigeria at the long run and urged FA to start looking into the future by giving him all the moral supports he needs to succeed.

” I believe the future belongs to the like of Vincent Enyeama because it takes lots of intelligence to be a goalkeeper trainer.

” The NFF must give him all the support he needs to succeed because Nigeria will surely benefit from his wealth of experience in the long run,” Shorunmu said.

Interestingly, Enyeama’s appointment is coming a few weeks after the current Super Eagles goalkeeper’ trainer, Alloy Agu,  in an exclusive interview with FCNaija, expressed confidence in Enyeama’s ability to excel as a coach.

He said: Of course, Enyeama can excel as a goalkeeper trainer if he chose to try his luck in that field. Good enough, he was one of our best goalkeepers when he was actively involved in football,” Agu said.

“I believe the decision is his. Vincent has what it takes to be one of the best goalkeeper trainers.

I know footballers don’t like going into full-time coaching, but a very good goalkeeper like Vincent will be a huge blessing to Nigerian football if he chooses to become a trainer,” he added. Follow us on Twitter and on Facebook
