Man City make history despite losing Premier League title

Manchester City has made history in English despite losing the Premier League title to Liverpool by a huge margin this season.

Pep Guardiola’s side was surprisingly beaten at Southampton in their previous game but two goals in the opening 20 minutes against Newcastle United after Gabriel Jesus who ended his nine-game goal drought by converting from David Silva’s cutback, while Riyad Mahrez swept home the second from Kevin de Bruyne’s pass.

However, unfortunate Federico Fernandez’s own goal before David Silva added the fourth by curling in a sublime free-kick.

Raheem Sterling came off the bench to add the fifth for City in injury-time, rolling in from Silva’s pass.

Manchester City will finish far off from champions Liverpool at the end of the 2019-20 campaign but have now achieved a remarkable feat after Algeria international Riyad Mahrez found the back of the net in their 5-0 win over Newcastle United

Cityzen now have five players who have scored 10 or more league goals this season, a feat achieved by no other team before.



The 2019 Africa Cup of Nation winner has now joined Gabriel Jesus, Kevin De Bruyne, Raheem Sterling, and Sergio Aguero on the list of Manchester City players who have reached double figures for goals in this Premier League campaign.
