Ajax's sporting director rules out Barcelona striker Suarez's potential return

Marc Overmars confesses there have been contacts with the Uruguayan star but he doesn't believe it's possible for the Eredivisie giants to land the striker this year.

"Let me put it this way: the chance that he will come is quite small," Ajax's sporting director Marc Overmars told Ziggo Sport when asked on Luis Suarez's potential return.

"That's a straight answer, I think. Whether there has been any contact with him? We have that with several ex-Ajax players. That is logical, you also have to maintain that."

On Monday, Ronald Koeman reportedly informed the Uruguayan striker he isn't in his plans for the next season even though he has a contract for another year.

Suarez has been linked with a return to his former club Ajax for a couple of days already yet it remains to be seen whether the Eredivisie giants may afford to land him.
