Reece James plead to Fans and ex-players to save former club Wigan Athletic

The right-back made a donation to prospective buyers and urged his followers on social media to join in to help save the club from being expelled from League One.

Reece James has come forward with a plea to save Wigan Athletic, a club where he had a breakthrough loan spell in the 2018/19 season.

The club might be kicked out of League One if they do not find buyers until August 31 - and fans are looking to raise £500,000.

They have called on their former players to help them - and Reece has done his bit:

On Instagram, the 20-year-old posted: "Come on let’s help @laticsofficial out! To every player out there never forget who played a part in your career to get to where you are today.

To everyone who has a fond memory playing against Wigan, they need our help today. I’ve donated to help this wonderful club."

Reece has personally donated £3,000 and also posted a link to the crowdfunding service that has since then been shared by Christian Pulisic, Fikayo Tomori, Mason Mount and Callum Hudson-Odoi.

Reece James was called Wigan's Player of the Year in his only season with the club and even captain the side in his last game there.
